Emily Davis

Violin

Emily is concertmaster of Manchester's The Hallé orchestra, and co-founder of the Scottish ensemble Thirteen North. Emily joined Equinox Festival in 2024.

  • Emily enjoys a vibrant and international career as an orchestral leader, soloist, chamber musician and teacher. Based in the U.K., she is the concertmaster of the Hallé Orchestra, and is regularly invited internationally as a guest leader with orchestras all around the world as well as invitations for countless chamber music festivals and soloist appearances.

Emily is passionate about directing larger chamber ensembles from the violin and founded “Thirteen North” with Co-Artistic Director Catriona Price. As an ensemble they have a unique influence of both classical and folk music, formed of musicians who are performers, composers and improvisers in their own right. They are driven to bring classical music out of concert halls and into the heart of communities around Scotland, working to access new audiences and help sustain the future of classical music.

Emily plays on a Ferdinand Gagliano violin kindly loaned to her through the Beare’s International Violin Society.
